Toying with Nokia LifeBlog & Flickr & Drupal

Mac.sis is run on Drupal, which is an very extensible open source web content management system. Despite all of its features, it does not have an API yet for submitting content using the Atom Publishing Protocol, which is the standard posting protocol used by Nokia Lifeblog.

As the summer vacation season is approaching, I wanted a mechanism for annoying everyone with a constant flow of vacation photography, so I needed to find another way. After a brief investigation, I found that I can use Flickr as a posting proxy from Lifeblog. Flickr supports the protocol used by Lifeblog, and in addition, provides the capability to push Lifeblog entries to another blog, and the Drupal MetaWebLog API is among the supported ones.

So, ladies and gentlemen, here's the proof that open protocols completely rule: My first Lifeblog post to Mac.sis!

(The posting process does not really involve a Mac, but hey, it does not involve a Windows machine either.)
