Slightly behind the original schedule (May), Apple has today released iTunes 7.2 and updated iTunes Store to offer non-DRM tracks and albums from EMI. At the time of writing, however, I have been unable to test the "iTunes Plus" feature though, as any attempt to accept the terms and conditions results in an error message.
At any rate (once available), this should be good news to non-iPod music player (such as an S60 smartphone) owners, as for a little added cost, the songs are not crippled by DRM.

iTunes Plus songs won't play on my N95
As per my blog post here: http://www.shasam.net/archives/58 I have been unable to get any iTunes Plus (DRM free) files working on anything but iTunes and my iPod.
Anyone else experiencing this? I've reported it to Apple support via their online form so shall see what, if anything, they can offer to resolve it.
Regards,
Shane.
I haven't tried it yet but
I haven't tried it yet but these questions come to mind:
-- What format is the new DRM free file? (ie: AAC, MP3) Is it supported in S60?
-- Does the S60 music player support the 256 Kbps bit rate?
I've only used MP3 files (up to 192 Kbps) on my E61.
Eric, My N95 has had no
Eric,
My N95 has had no problems playing AAC (M4A extension) files from CD's I've ripped and encoded in iTunes. Of course it never played DRM'd iTunes store stuff, but the new DRM-free iTunes Plus files are AAC files with M4A extensions and *should* play anywhere.
I've still had no luck... hopefully Apple will get back to me.
Regards,
Shane.
