A recent tip at MacOSXHints indicates that there is a workaround for getting iTunes Plus songs to play on the Nokia N95. The process involves using the "Convert to AAC" functionality in iTunes, essentially creating a standard AAC version of the song.
I tested this and the resulting file plays just fine on the N95. I set the AAC encoding bitrate to 256 (no VBR) in the iTunes preferences, but at the moment I am not sure if iTunes re-encodes the tracks or not. If there is no re-encoding and loss of quality, this may be a viable workaround.
Does anyone have any tips for comparing two audio tracks to determine if the data section is intact?

Great news! We have a tool to fix it!
One of the commenters on my site (and blogger in his own right) Joshua King has found what is causing the issue and made a Java application to fix it - without having to re-encode! Info and links from here http://www.shasam.net/archives/58

Another way to make them work without losing quality
There was another post there too that used Quicktime Pro to passthrough the audio rather than re-encode. Just FYI, I'm tracking everything as I find it here: http://www.shasam.net/archives/58

Passthrough with an open source program?
I don't have QT Pro, but this is a good tip for those of us that do. :)
I tried looking for an open source AAC encoder that could be used similarly, but with no luck thus far.
